Tofu Hyaku-Chin

A woman on the right is fanning the flames in a charcoal brazier to ensure the right temperature for grilling Dengaku a dish made from pieces of skewered tofu garnished with sweet miso sauce.  This woodblock print is sourced from the Tofu Hyaku-Chin, 1782, page 8 from the Tofu Cooking, edited by Junko Lampert, 1984.
