Calligraphy

This calligraphy by Jiun is an example of just eight characters written in ink on paper which is a excerpt of the East-Asian Buddhist texts of the Lotus Sutra. The translation reads "I have all three worlds" these are the worlds, so described in the Lotus Suta, as those of 'desire' 'colour' and 'no colour' which are the Zen reflections of perfect thought. Image scanned from Jackie Menzies and Edmund Capons' Japan: Masterpieces from the Idemitsu Collection, 1982, page 56. There is also respectful acknowledgment for the Curatorial staff of the Idemitsu Museum of Arts.
